Whistler Mitchell Family Vacation:
10 of us ventured up to Whistler and stayed in a very nice four bedroom condo. We went miniature golfing (Kyle won), traveled peak to peak (some not so excited to go, but were champs about it), went hiking on blackcomb mountain, and relaxed. It was a nice getaway from the norm and Kade got his first extensive vacation. Thanks Scott and Linda!

Mid-July we met with Rebecca Brethauer for Kade's 6 month pictures. She snapped picts for about an hour and gave us the disk and rights to print them whenever we want. These are just a few pictures that we liked. Her blog is www.rebeccabrethauerphotography.blogspot.com. She was very nice and was willing to meet anywhere we wanted. My sister got us the sitting for my birthday, thanks Aim.
Update on Kade: He is actually 7 months today. He is eating a lot of solids and his favorite foods are all fruit (of course!). He has two teeth popping through on the bottom, his hair seems to be filling in a little better, he is almost crawling and is constantly wanting to walk. The other day he cried out momamomamoma. Probably not on purpose, but it made me feel pretty good. We are having so much fun watching Kade grow and experience new things. It will be a sad day when Tyler and I have to get back to the grind in less than a month.

One that everyone loves.

Summer has been fun! I did a mini Triathlon at Padden Tyler played in Hoopfest again and lost in the Championship of his Hoop. That means his team was in the top 8 of the elite division. We have been having a great time both being home for the summer. We also had a little vacation to Birch Bay for the 4th of July. It was good to get away even though it wasn't that far away from home. Pictures will be uploaded soon!

June is finally here!
Sorry it has taken so long to update. Lots has been going on now that summer is kicking into gear. Basketball and volleyball are starting up this week and going strong through the summer. Tyler had his first basketball games tonight at Lynden against Ferndale and Lynden (they won both games, Tyler was happy)
Not much has changed with Kade. He is rolling a little more, grabbing and chewing on everything, becoming more and more alert and aware, but still not sleeping very long at night. Other than the sleep thing he has been a great baby. To get ready for the fall Tyler and I tried the bottle routine again and Kade wasn't having it. He will probably take a sippy cup before he will take a bottle. I also learned that he hasn't been getting enough food from me so Tyler and I decided to try some rice cereal. Kade was more than happy to eat up, it was fun. We shall see what changes come with solid foods, I am crossing my fingers for more sleep.
June is going to be a crazy month with lots of birthdays, Kyle and Tyler's graduation, basketball and volleyball tournaments and school for Tyler. I hopeto do a better job of updating the blog, but we shall see.
We made a road trip to Shareene's house and visited with Gill, Tessa and Marcy (sleeping). It was great to get out of the house and catch up on all the latest.

May29th was my Grandma's 77th Birthday. We celebrated with pizza cake and ice cream at my parents house.

May 31st. Kade's first bite of solid foods. He is reaching for the spoon already trying to feed himself. :)

Kade rolled for the second time yesterday. The first time was a month ago and he hasn't done so since. It was pretty exciting, even though when we went to Grandpa and Grandma Mitchell's house he did not perform for the granparents. Kade has been doing alright. The nights are hit and miss although there are more misses lately. He rolled over for the first time last weekend, but has yet to repeat. It was probably just luck. He was quite surprised to have moved him self.

Kade has been doing well. The nights are very hit and miss, but there are more hits than misses these days. He has had a couple of 5-6 hour stretches at night which has been nice. Here are some fun pictures we just took this weekend!

10 Weeks

Kade is now 10 weeks old. The milestone for Kade is sleeping 5 hours straight! Last night was the second consecutive night that he slept for a 5 hour stretch. Awesome! He is also finding sitting and standing up (with our help) to be fun. He is very interested in the world around him, constantly moving his head from side to side and following noises with his eyes. It has been incredibly fun getting to see Kade's personality come out.

March Update

Just hanging out at home. Tyler and I were trying to get him to smile at the camera. He is smiling and talking to us much more these days, which is awesome.

All bundled up ready for a walk outside. The swaddle (with legs) is awesome for use in his stroller and it keeps him very warm.

His neck is getting stronger. The picture is a little deceiving, he is on a slight incline :).

Kade is doing well. He is now 12 lbs and 24 inches long. He has been sleeping better meaning he has been sleeping about 3 hours between feedings with a few exceptions.

Kade is now 7 weeks old. He has been smiling more regularly which has been awesome. It honestly melts my heart every time I see him smile. Kade is still waking up every 2-3 hours at night, making me delirious at times. Last night Tyler fed Kade so I got a 4 hour stretch of sleep. I never thought I could be so happy to get 4 hours of sleep.

I borrowed a swing from my sister that goes sideways and Kade loves it. When he gets fussy and it's time for a nap it works wonders.
Kade has started smiling regularly. It seems like he is trying to talk back to Tyler and me, but of course we can't understand him. It's just nice to see him smile at us and it not be due to gas.
Last night was a good night. Kade slept 2 hours after each feeding, which means I got to sleep for 2 hour chunks. I hope that time increases....
Kade is also over his first plugged/infected tear duct. I am happy to stop rubbing ointment into his eye lid (he took it like a champ).

It's hard to believe that it is half way through the month. Hope everyone is doing well. Soon spring and summer will be here. I am looking forward to the warmer weather.

Time does fly when you have a newborn. Things are going pretty well. Kade is a thriving little boy with very healthy lungs :)

We took Kade in to be weighed today and he is up to 9 lbs (so he is passed his birth weight).

Tonight he will go to his first home basketball game (Nooksack vs. Burlington). He made his first game appearance vs Sehome over a week ago and he did very well (slept the whole time).

Well, after a very exciting week its time for Daddy to go back to work and for Mommy to keep on caring for Kade.

Yesterday was a little rough trying to get back on schedule even though Kade has been Sleeping better at night. He has only woke up 2 times the last two nights.

Last night was a little rough becuase Kade got circumcised, but all seems to be going well. Kade is feeding well and seems to be gaining his weight back ok.

Home Sweet Home!!!!!

We are home!! We arrived home at about 1:00 this afternoon.

After unpacking Daddy had to go brave the flood waters to get some prescriptions for Alli.

Kade slept all the way home, while Daddy drove 10 mph below the speed limit.

As far as visitors go for the weekend, Alli and I welcome visitors, but would like people who plan to stop by to call ahead to make sure we will be here and can plan for your arrival.

Alli gets her staples out tomorrow at 2pm and we have a nurse coming out tomorrow morning to check on Kade.

Good News all around!!!!

We got two bits of good news this afternoon. One being that Alli is doing so well that we have the option to go home tonight, which we are declining because of the flooding. Two, my schedule has been lightened because both practice and the game tonight has been cancelled, so I get the opportunity to focus on taking care of Alli and being a Dad!!!!

Kade is doing very well, after a long night of fussing he sleeped this morning and this afternoon for a bit. He is also feeding very well.

He weighted in at 7 lbs 11 oz this morning.

Alli and I got the experience of parent hood this morning when Kade sprayed us with Pee at about 3 am :)

Hope everyone is staying dry and safe in the flood.

Daddy got to the hospital after a 21 point loss to an upset baby :(

Other than that Kade is doing well. He pooped 4 times and pee'ed 3 times today.

Alli and Kade got a two hour nap tonight, I am jealous.

Alli is doing great, she got a shower this afternoon and got to walk around a little bit.

Kade is Here!!!!!!

Kade Allen Mitchell arrived by C- Section at 7:50 pm on January 5th. Kade was not liking the contractions so Alli and I decided to take the safe route and have the C- Section.

Kade was 8 lbs 2 oz and 22 inches long.

Alli is doing great, doctors were inpressed with her stomach muscles and she is recovering well.

Alli's water broke this morning at about 5:30. We are in the in RM 19 hanging out waiting for things to progress.

Four days late and still waiting....
Last visit with the doctor came up with very little progress. Next appointment is on Thursday and if the Kade isn't here by then I will be induced.

Today Tyler and I made several meals to keep ourselves busy and to stock up for the arrival of Kade. Tyler also had to keep his mind of the Friday Harbor/ Nooksack game that he missed (just in case Kade decided to enter the world today).
TJ headed up the team and took care of business winning 53-47. Tyler was getting updates every 3-4 minutes from parents that made the trip. He wasn't much help at the grocery store :).

Baby Shower held by Amy Washburn, Julie Colwell, and Lisa Stephans. It was a great shower with lots of family and friends.

I was at 32 weeks at the shower.

30 Weeks 3-D Pictures

These are two pictures of Kade that we had taken at Along Comes a Baby at 30 weeks. Tyler's cousin (Shelly) practiced using the ultrasound machine, which allowed us to see him one more time before he arrives. We got 4-D video where we were able to see Kade kick, suck on his fingers, yawn, and rub around his eyes. It was amazing!
